H.W. "Rus" Ruslander has been in law enforcement and forensics since January, 1969. He spent the first 23 years as a Prince George's County, Maryland police officer. After retiring, he relocated to south Florida where he was the crime scene supervisor and latent print examiner for the Lake Worth Police Department. Rus left Lake Worth and worked as a crime scene investigator and crime analyst for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office before becoming the chief investigator for the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner's Office where he serves as the Chief Investigator.

Certified Senior Crime Scene Analyst, Certified Bloodstain Pattern Examiner & Certified Latent Print Examiner with the International Association for Identification (IAI)
Registered Medicolegal Death Examiner with the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators (ABMDI)
Certified Evidence Photographer with Evidence Photographers International Council (EPIC).
His is a certified law enforcement instructor in Florida with the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission (CJSTC) and has taught classes throughout the United States. Rus has taught over 5000 hours of specialized training in forensics for organizations like IAI, FDIAI, Gold Coast Forensic Assoc., and many others.
Rus has authored well over 30 articles pertaining to forensics that have been published in numerous magazines, the world wide web, and journals.
He is a member of the IAI Board of Directors, Member IAI Nominating Committee, Member IAI Standardization II Committee, Member Florida Division of the IAI (FDIAI) Board of Directors, Chairman FDIAI Bloodstain Committee, Member FDIAI Forensic Medicine Committee, Member FDIAI Crime Scene Certification Committee.
Rus also holds a current membership with the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), American Legion, Chesapeake Bay Division of IAI (CBDIAI), (Florida Association of Medical Examiners (FAME), International Association of Bloodstain Pattern Analysts (IABPA), Association for Crime Scene Reconstruction (ACSR), and ABMDI.
